Hey you guys ! New boardie here, passing by I'm an Ellen fan, big one, used to have a site about her, translated her book, all the stuff. I wanted to escape from the regular ellen boards I'm on, (which have been invaded and turned into virtual asylums) and say hi to hopefully normal people !!! How are you ?! I like Portia a lot, well as an actress that is cause I don't know much about her, (would watch ally mcbeal only for her character and Ling btw -- they were the ones stealing the show) she's talented and I hope everything will be cool and that she'll be happy with El ! I wanted to ask you guys, I read here and there opposed affirmations about Arrested Development's health - could somebody tell me how is it really doing in the ratings ? Is the future bright ? There's another thing I wanted to ask... lol.. As fans of the private person, how do you guys take the fact that Portia's with Ellen and that she risks to be now bothered by the press who'll ask more about her life than her work ? I mean I've been an Ellen fan for a long time and to see that 8 years after her coming out she's still asked about her being gay vs/ her career (less so but still) I'm clearly so tired of it !! Sooooooo tired of it seriously sometimes I wish I could fast-forward til the year where no bloody journalist mention it anymore. Ok now this doesn't sound encouraging, at all LMAO but really, what's your take on it ? Does Ellen in her life appear to you as a cool thing/indifferent, or as the one who'll get Portia unwanted paparrazis ? ok and now I shut up lol mand

HIYA MAND!!!!!!!!!! Is that you? If so, COOOOOL to meet you here. It's actually a relief coming to something warmer and quieter for a bit huh? I find the fact that Portia always has been very strict in keeping most of her private life private totally awsom and brave. As obviously, a lot of press didn't really like her for it. And I think it might even start to show more now that she's together with Ellen. Ted Casablanca for instance clearly doesn't like her. Alas, ratings for AD weren't good. Nobody can dispute that. In some of the articles below the critics also talk about that. In March even a petition was launched to save the show. In the last year Nielsen season-to-date november sweeps they got a 5.3, growing 7 per cent compared to the same time the year before Comparing with other shows (at night): At 8 p.m., first in the overnights was CBS’ Cold Case (11.4/16), followed by ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.6/15), Fox’s The Simpsons (7.9/11) and Arrested Development (5.3/ 7), NBC’s American Dreams (6.2/ 9), and the WB’s beginning to fade Charmed (3.6/ 5). Once the nationals are released, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will, no doubt, easily win the hour among adults 18-49. As for Arrested Development at 8:30 p.m., losing one-third of The Simpsons audience in the overnights is by no means a positive. (source: Nielsen Media Research via Mediaweek) The following is a nice example of how critics look at AD (I had a whole bunch of them, but I forgot where I left them): Here
(It's possible you have to fill in some form. (If so, Don't forget to uncheck the "I want mail" box. And you don't need to fill in your mail adress)
If you haven't seen the show it gives you some idea as to what makes AD special and different from other sitcoms.
Some more articles Here, and HereHope you enjoy see ya around huh?!

oh hey Mafamba, fun to see ya here ! both exiled and berthed in the same island I think I heard some noises but it seems mostly deserted as for now Thanks for the infos & link; I guess it doesn't look that good.. And, dammit, it reminded me of some painful times when we were trying to save the ellen show; ratings recaps, articles, voting like crazy every single day e-mailing here and there, savethatshow.com and all the rest.. Hope it'll work out for Portia, between that and her more-or-less 'forced' coming out I imagine it must be a quite stressful phase for her.. but in any ways, as far as coming out processes and sitcom hazards are concerned she has a good adviser at home ! Hello Sungirl ! Nice to meet you hey I've almost been living according to your country's local time the past two weeks since the beginning of the Australian Open -- I'm a big tennis fan, been following everything on tv.. Crazy temperatures you're having there, wish it were that hot in europe right now.. -10°C here I'm frozen and sick of winter

Hiya again Mand, Yeah, feels a bit like a safe haven here. For now. I don't know how it would be if it were busier. But it's nice to meet YOU here.
About Arrested Development. Do you receive BBC where you live? For only today I saw that BBC2 is broadcasting AD too. But they're already at ep 14 of season 1 (There are 22 eps in the first season). It's every sunday night.
I hope they'll be getting a third season in the States after the second one finishes. And that the critics sre right in that viewers just have to get used to a different kind of presentation. For AD IS innovating. Different from other sitcoms. But it seems to be starting when on an other channel the Simsons are still not finished, So people won't switch channels to AD that easily. As the Simpsons are very popular. FOX really isn't doing well on their programming. Which I think is really weird. And in their advertising AD they don't show the funny bits. As far as I recall CBS did the same sort of thing with "The Ellen Show" at the time. As if they actually didn't really WANTED it to succeed.
Wow, you got -10 overthere? COLD!!!

There should be more support given to AD just look how popular The Ellen Show turned out to be. What a great show AD is, I cant wait for it to come back on the tv due to the tennis being broadcast on Ch7....... I dont mind the tennis at all but id rather watch Portia instead .... as for the weather i wouldn't mind being in cooler climate.... it's 2 bloody hot ;D aussie,aussie,aussie..... oi,oi,oi
